sew sew sew

Most of my day yesterday was spent spring cleaning my sewing/craft/genealogy corner.Sad to say I've still got alot to do.If we hadn't started looking at all my pictures (instead of organizing them)it would have gone faster. Were my children ever that little? Oh, sometimes I wish I could go back and use all the wisdom I've gained over the years, and maybe even be more of a grandma/mother. sa la ve' you do the best you can with what you have! It was so fun though to look back at my cute little ones.

I'm sewing cute little backpacks today that the Rotary Club here in Snohomish are taking to Guatemala next week filled with different things our youth from church put together.I'm so thank-ful to be part of this! Sew..... I better get busy and sew!

    I've come to the conclusion that we have our children so that we can practise at being better grandparents when our grandchildren come along - I bet you are a lovely mum and - all those wonderful grandchildren. That's really kind, sending out those little backpacks - I'm sure that they will be much appreciated.

    My boys are just 19mos and 8weeks, and I can already look at photos of both of them and wonder if they were ever really that young and small.

    I can't imagine, if they were old enough to have kids of their own!

    Oh! only eight wks how sweet. I think when were young moms were so busy doing what we do that you don't even think what'd it'd be like when their older.(which is good) One of my daughters asked me once "What were you thinking when you bought this house?"( We have scary stairs that go up to our loft)I told her I certainly wasn't thinking about grandchildren!

    Oh, Molly, if I were still a mom to little ones I'd make them call me "mum". When we were in England last year at the park I just loved hearing all the chidren calling for mum. so sweet.

    I think Mollygolver is absolutely right. The problem is that so many familes live thousands of miles apart (as in my case), so the wisdom of age sadly goes un-heeded.

    Linda, Mrs Magnon has always been called 'Mumsy', the grandchildren now call her 'Grumsy'. I've never got used to 'Mom'.

    Good morning, Linda - what you've said is bang on! My youngest is 23 today - where did the time go?
    I loved your previous post and have added the scenic drive to our trip south of the border on Friday. We've been in that area so many times, but have never seen that route.
    Others may be heading for Hawaii and Mexico, but me....I'm pretty excited about three days away with my Great Dane and a little shopping.

    Hi Linda! If you love ducks you've got to read the book "Enslaved by Ducks" by Bob Tarte. I found his book on the staff recommends shelf probably about 9 years ago. I noticed that he has a website-so I contacted him and he wrote back. We have become friends and he and his wife, Linda, even interviewed me for their internet pet show. I think it's just enslavedbyducks.com. He is like the Woody Allen of the animal world. Soooo sooo funny. On his website you can see all about him. That's great that you are sewing. Such a great cause.

    Linda! Well, if I had stayed married to my first husband I would have had you beat, I think! I was married 8/73. We just ended up with 10 years. I'm glad I didn't because my husband, Chris, is the best and, also, I wouldn't be LDS. I'm a convert since I married him! Ta da!!!!!!

 I've always had a bird feeder, for years now. They bring alot of joy to me, nature so up close and personal. Now that we don't have any pets, we've loved having our bird feeders up again. We have this one tree out back and we have a little of everything for them. A little bird bath, three feeders and a suet feeder. There's usually ten to twenty birds in the tree at all times. Lots of beautiful finches, lots of yard birds, lots of black birds (who are quite noisy) red wing black birds and yellow headed black birds. We finally identified one that we couldn't figure out and its a Evening Grosbeak. Some come and we never see them again, just passing through. But, it's our little obsession right now, gives me something to do every morning. But, dang those birds are eating us out of house and home!

oh honey you shouldn't have

 chop, chop, chop were the sounds I woke up too yesterday. I've been hearing those sounds alot these last few weeks as my manly man has made hot sauce and salsa galore. But..............this morning it was different. I woke up to a beautiful bowl of tabbouleh...my favorite salad. The combination of the bulgar, parsley, cucumber and tomatoes just tickles my palet. My favorite part this time of the year are the pomegranate seeds, they add such color and flavor.(I really shouldn't be eating it but I chewed extra well ummm) Oooops a jar of grape juice just broke, manly man is canning....be right back. O.K. that's cleaned up and I'm heading out for a long overdue walk. It's a lovely day, blue skies and sun.

all is well

My daughter Becky should be home from the hospital soon, her surgery went well. Next the mourning for what was and will never be again, she had a lot of good cries last night. They weighed the breast and it was seven and a half pounds! I knew it was close to ten. Like she said jokingly she was looking forward to getting "alot off her chest". When I talked to her on the phone this morning I asked her how in the world did she ever get anything done with a two year old and 5mon. old! I did manage to get us all clean and fed by eleven. Is that good? And to think I raised six! Todays is Becky's Abbie's birthday, we hope to go to the movies this afternoon. I guess on the way home from the hospital they are picking up a new kitty for the children. They had promised them one when they moved in to their house, so how wonderful of them to realize what a good time it would be to bring one home.
