the sign


 One of the things Jim and I love to do together, is explore. When I'm having a good day and need to get out I know Jim will always be willing to go somewhere. Idaho has so many interesting and beautiful places to go that we'll never run out of destinations.

Yesterday we got the map out and chose somewhere we haven't been. The St. Joe river. It's a popular, potential fishing  place . As we wove our way through the mountains, we finally dipped down into a beautiful valley at the end of Lake Coeur d' alene . We went through the town of St. Marie and started following the St. Joe there. It meandered slowly through the valley and then as we started to get back up into the mountains again the current  became a little faster. We finally turned around at a fish camp when we saw the sign.

As we started home I asked Jim if he thought it looked like a place he'd like to go fishing? He said, "Yes until I saw the sign".

I knew exactly what sign he was talking about. I had seen it and hoped he hadn't.

The sign said, " ALL TROUT CATCH AND RELEASE ONLY"

Poor Grandpa!

 I've always had a bird feeder, for years now. They bring alot of joy to me, nature so up close and personal. Now that we don't have any pets, we've loved having our bird feeders up again. We have this one tree out back and we have a little of everything for them. A little bird bath, three feeders and a suet feeder. There's usually ten to twenty birds in the tree at all times. Lots of beautiful finches, lots of yard birds, lots of black birds (who are quite noisy) red wing black birds and yellow headed black birds. We finally identified one that we couldn't figure out and its a Evening Grosbeak. Some come and we never see them again, just passing through. But, it's our little obsession right now, gives me something to do every morning. But, dang those birds are eating us out of house and home!

oh honey you shouldn't have

 chop, chop, chop were the sounds I woke up too yesterday. I've been hearing those sounds alot these last few weeks as my manly man has made hot sauce and salsa galore. But..............this morning it was different. I woke up to a beautiful bowl of tabbouleh...my favorite salad. The combination of the bulgar, parsley, cucumber and tomatoes just tickles my palet. My favorite part this time of the year are the pomegranate seeds, they add such color and flavor.(I really shouldn't be eating it but I chewed extra well ummm) Oooops a jar of grape juice just broke, manly man is canning....be right back. O.K. that's cleaned up and I'm heading out for a long overdue walk. It's a lovely day, blue skies and sun.

all is well

My daughter Becky should be home from the hospital soon, her surgery went well. Next the mourning for what was and will never be again, she had a lot of good cries last night. They weighed the breast and it was seven and a half pounds! I knew it was close to ten. Like she said jokingly she was looking forward to getting "alot off her chest". When I talked to her on the phone this morning I asked her how in the world did she ever get anything done with a two year old and 5mon. old! I did manage to get us all clean and fed by eleven. Is that good? And to think I raised six! Todays is Becky's Abbie's birthday, we hope to go to the movies this afternoon. I guess on the way home from the hospital they are picking up a new kitty for the children. They had promised them one when they moved in to their house, so how wonderful of them to realize what a good time it would be to bring one home.
