a day at the temple

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints or more commonly known as the Mormons.We have many meeting houses through out the world, that all, are invited to. We also have buildings called temples that you need a "recommend" which is given to you by your bishop after an interview.We have temples through out the world, I think now totalling about 130.
The reason I'm sharing this with you is because our oldest granddaughter turned twelve today, and when your twelve you can enter the temple and do baptisms for the dead. So, today we were able to go with Rachel and her parents to the temple.Going into the temple is such a delight, you leave your daily cares behind , letting the peace overcome you. It was a special experience , so happy we were able to be here.

    Linda! I am a Mormon also! I found your blog by clicking on the "next blog button". We live in Murray, Utah and our temple is the Jordan River Temple. How wonderful it is to find a soul mate.     Linda, I just answered you on my blog but I didn't know if you would see it. I'm a little new to this. Anyway, I'm probably about your age and a grandma too! We have 1 grandson and a granddaughter on the way. It's too fun, isn't it? Anyway, I just wanted to tell you that I went back to school last September. I dropped out of school when I was a senior in the 70's so my first husband could go to law school in CA. So many years later I'm back at the U. of U. and finishing my art history degree. I really have finished my major pretty much (just need senior seminar and a writing class for my degree)but now I'm taking the extra classes I need to finish. I have to tell you that it's a blast! I love it but I'm only taking 1 class at a time. So, you can do it too! Let's keep tabs on each other. We can be each other's pep club. So.... GO LINDA GO!

 I've always had a bird feeder, for years now. They bring alot of joy to me, nature so up close and personal. Now that we don't have any pets, we've loved having our bird feeders up again. We have this one tree out back and we have a little of everything for them. A little bird bath, three feeders and a suet feeder. There's usually ten to twenty birds in the tree at all times. Lots of beautiful finches, lots of yard birds, lots of black birds (who are quite noisy) red wing black birds and yellow headed black birds. We finally identified one that we couldn't figure out and its a Evening Grosbeak. Some come and we never see them again, just passing through. But, it's our little obsession right now, gives me something to do every morning. But, dang those birds are eating us out of house and home!

oh honey you shouldn't have

 chop, chop, chop were the sounds I woke up too yesterday. I've been hearing those sounds alot these last few weeks as my manly man has made hot sauce and salsa galore. But..............this morning it was different. I woke up to a beautiful bowl of tabbouleh...my favorite salad. The combination of the bulgar, parsley, cucumber and tomatoes just tickles my palet. My favorite part this time of the year are the pomegranate seeds, they add such color and flavor.(I really shouldn't be eating it but I chewed extra well ummm) Oooops a jar of grape juice just broke, manly man is canning....be right back. O.K. that's cleaned up and I'm heading out for a long overdue walk. It's a lovely day, blue skies and sun.

all is well

My daughter Becky should be home from the hospital soon, her surgery went well. Next the mourning for what was and will never be again, she had a lot of good cries last night. They weighed the breast and it was seven and a half pounds! I knew it was close to ten. Like she said jokingly she was looking forward to getting "alot off her chest". When I talked to her on the phone this morning I asked her how in the world did she ever get anything done with a two year old and 5mon. old! I did manage to get us all clean and fed by eleven. Is that good? And to think I raised six! Todays is Becky's Abbie's birthday, we hope to go to the movies this afternoon. I guess on the way home from the hospital they are picking up a new kitty for the children. They had promised them one when they moved in to their house, so how wonderful of them to realize what a good time it would be to bring one home.
