spring cleaning

I'm sure spring cleaning takes on different meanings to all of us.  I know I do get the urge to spring clean, not that I always do it but, I have felt the urge. I remember my mother telling me that every spring her father would repaint the whole house, she said she expected the walls to fall down every year. Back when they heated with coal and had kerosene  lamps I'm sure spring cleaning was a nessecity oh, and only washing bedding once a year. As a child I knew I should have been a pioneer but now I'm so glad I wasn't!

Well, Becky has the urge to spring clean, we worked on it some yesterday between children and I'd better get off my duff and get over there! She wants the house to be easy to clean for anyone helping out....smart girl!

Have any good spring cleaning stories?

  2. My quote of the day is - 'Don't miss the Spring for the Spring Cleaning' on saying that necessity compels me to 'muck out' from time to time, but my real love is to be out in the garden. Well done to Becky! ps the only parts of me when I've having a blitz, that look like that smart lady in the picture are the 'Marigolds' on her hands.

  3. "Mucking out" does sound more like our house. ...if it weren't for all of those piglets!

  4. I actually call it "Cancer" Cleaning...I would not be doing Spring cleaning if I did not feel like I needed to for my future crap I am going to be going through.

  5. My mother started at the top and worked down and we girls each had a job - from the ceiling to the baseboards - the wooden tables and chairs in the kitchen - every surface and every dish in the china cabinet. It was, in retrospect, all a good lesson, but I still hate cleaning!
