Happy 31st Birthday Becky


Becky was our fourth child,  born in Fairbanks,Alaska. The day of
my last appointment , we made the thirty five mile trip into Fair-
banks. It was close to 55 below 0.  After my exam and an ultrasound the 
Dr. informed me Becky was breech and her head was so large it
would probley get stuck in the birth canalAt that point I just wanted her
out. They scheduled me for a c-section Monday morning. Of course as luck
would have it I went into labor at one Monday morning. Jim bundled me in
the car and we headed for the hospital. I kept saying "I'm scared, I'm scared,
please hurry." He kept assuring me it'd be alright (but I noticed he was going
awfully fast!)If I delivered I could possibly lose her. We finally got to the
emergency room where I was whisked into the examining room. Little toes
welcomed the nurse, I was dilated to 8! She was delivered successfully, weighing
in at 7lbs. 8ozs. (they thought she'd be at least 10lbs.) and she had the biggest
head in the nursery. Becky was a delightful child to raise, she never gave us
a bit of trouble (till she was in HS). She really was a joy in our lives.

 I've always had a bird feeder, for years now. They bring alot of joy to me, nature so up close and personal. Now that we don't have any pets, we've loved having our bird feeders up again. We have this one tree out back and we have a little of everything for them. A little bird bath, three feeders and a suet feeder. There's usually ten to twenty birds in the tree at all times. Lots of beautiful finches, lots of yard birds, lots of black birds (who are quite noisy) red wing black birds and yellow headed black birds. We finally identified one that we couldn't figure out and its a Evening Grosbeak. Some come and we never see them again, just passing through. But, it's our little obsession right now, gives me something to do every morning. But, dang those birds are eating us out of house and home!

oh honey you shouldn't have

 chop, chop, chop were the sounds I woke up too yesterday. I've been hearing those sounds alot these last few weeks as my manly man has made hot sauce and salsa galore. But..............this morning it was different. I woke up to a beautiful bowl of tabbouleh...my favorite salad. The combination of the bulgar, parsley, cucumber and tomatoes just tickles my palet. My favorite part this time of the year are the pomegranate seeds, they add such color and flavor.(I really shouldn't be eating it but I chewed extra well ummm) Oooops a jar of grape juice just broke, manly man is canning....be right back. O.K. that's cleaned up and I'm heading out for a long overdue walk. It's a lovely day, blue skies and sun.

all is well

My daughter Becky should be home from the hospital soon, her surgery went well. Next the mourning for what was and will never be again, she had a lot of good cries last night. They weighed the breast and it was seven and a half pounds! I knew it was close to ten. Like she said jokingly she was looking forward to getting "alot off her chest". When I talked to her on the phone this morning I asked her how in the world did she ever get anything done with a two year old and 5mon. old! I did manage to get us all clean and fed by eleven. Is that good? And to think I raised six! Todays is Becky's Abbie's birthday, we hope to go to the movies this afternoon. I guess on the way home from the hospital they are picking up a new kitty for the children. They had promised them one when they moved in to their house, so how wonderful of them to realize what a good time it would be to bring one home.
